Dear Festividder Letter
Thank you for vidding for me! I'm pretty easy to please, vid-wise. I like shippy vids, gen vids, character studies, and ensemble pieces. I also enjoy a whole variety of different music (folk music! Glam rock! Showtunes!) although if it helps, some of my most played artists (according to Spotify) are Brandi Carlile, Simon and Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, and the Magnetic Fields. All the songs I link to here are just suggestions, so don't feel pressured to use them! The only thing I'm especially not fond of it text on screen - I have a hard time processing the visuals/audio/text at the same time. I've also never been known to turn down a crack vid.
경성학교: 사라진 소녀들 | The Silenced (2015)
For this one, I'd really enjoy a video about Ju-ran and Yeon-duk's relationship, or the twisty Gothic overtones of the film. Boarding school gothic is one of my absolute favourite genres, so leaning into the claustrophobia and shut-in atmosphere would be fantastic. Femslash VERY much welcome.
The Wind (2018)
I'd really enjoy a vid about Lizzy, her relationship with Emma, or just the general isolated atmosphere of the movie. Femslash is also welcome (actually, just put "femslash welcome" down for all of my requests.)
Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark [2019]
This movie hit me HARD in all my favourite storytelling tropes - which is to say, stories about storytelling itself - and I loved Stella, so a vid about her, or about Sarah Bellows (and the throughline between Stella and Sarah and Ruth and how none of them are believed) would be great. Also; Stella/Ruth? Stella/Ruth.
Rift (2017)
This movie is an underrated gem, and if you HAVEN'T seen it and just stumbled across this letter by way of a different fandom, I strongly recommend it. I love how understated the horror is, and how much of the movie is rooted in Gunnar and Einar's relationship, so a vid about the two of them would be great.
An American Werewolf In London (1981)
I think this canon lends itself especially well to crack vids, since the tone of the movie is already so irreverent . . . right until the horror kicks in. I'd also love a vid about Jack and David's relationship, or Jack/David/Alex.
Hair (1979)
Is this the only non-horror canon on this list? I think it might be! Anyway I am eternally fond of this cast of human disasters, and would love an ensemble vid or a Claude/Berger one, OR one about the more general themes and setting of the movie (the anti-war movement, free love, youthful idealism being crushed by the military industrial complex, all that fun stuff.)
