Dear Festividder Letter

Thank you for vidding for me! I'm pretty easy to please, vid-wise. I like shippy vids, gen vids, character studies, and ensemble pieces. I also enjoy a whole variety of different music (folk music! Glam rock! Showtunes!) although if it helps, some of my most played artists (according to Spotify) are Brandi Carlile, Simon and Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, and the Magnetic Fields. All the songs I link to here are just suggestions, so don't feel pressured to use them! The only thing I'm especially not fond of it text on screen - I have a hard time processing the visuals/audio/text at the same time. I've also never been known to turn down a crack vid.

Witchfinder General (1968)

Five-second pitch: A soldier in the English Civil War attempts to revenge himself on "witchfinder general" Matthew Hopkins after Hopkins kills his fiance's uncle.

Requests: Honestly, anything! Especially anything about Sara, I love her.

Music suggestions: I actually have none! Go wild.

Zero Patience (1993)

Five-second pitch: The ghost of an AIDS patient returns from the dead to haunt a museum curator as he works on an exhibit about the epidemic. Also, it's a musical. And the museum curator is Richard Burton. 

Requests: This movie is a LOT and I love every off-the-wall minute of it. I would really love a vid about the metatextual aspects of the narrative (Zero as Scheherazade, Richard Burton as the person mediating and warping his story, the questions raised about the responsibilities historians have for building narratives of other peoples' lives.)

Music suggestions: This is hard because the movie's tone is really difficult to pin down, but I actually think it could pair well with George Michael. I guess it WOULD be nice if I could touch your body!

The Lions of Al-Rassan - Guy Gavriel Kay

Five-second pitch: In a world inspired by the dying days of Al-Andalus, three people - a soldier, a courtier, and a doctor - come together to try and keep their nations from going to war.

Requests: The relationship between Ammar, Jehane, and Rodrigo consistently makes me cry buckets, so anything about the three of them!

Music suggestions: Did the Oh Hellos write "Soldier, Poet, King" specifically about this book? Probably not, but I can pretend. Same goes with First Aid Kit's "I Met Up With The King."

Waking the Moon - Elizabeth Hand

Five-second pitch: Upon arriving at the exclusive University of the Archangel and St. John the Divine, Sweeney Cassidy falls in with two wild and privileged students and is drawn into a world of gods, goddesses, and sacred mysteries.

Requests: I'd love a vid set during the university section of the book with Sweeney, Oliver, and Angelica!

Music suggestions: This book was basically made for Fleetwood Mac and Loreena McKennitt.

Ringu | The Ring Series (Japanese Movies)

Five-second pitch: A series of bystanders - a journalist, a college professor, members of a theatre troupe - are drawn into the story of Sadako Yamamura and the curse she left behind.

Requests: SADAKO DID NOTHING WRONG. (Sadako may have done a few things wrong.) But seriously, I'd love a Sadako-focused character vid.

Music suggestions: Something with the vibes of The Pierces' "Sticks and Stones" or Meg Myers' "Monster."

The Hexslinger Series - Gemma Files

Five-second pitch: In an alternate universe Wild West, a magical gunslinger, a former Pinkerton agent, and a spiritualist race to prevent a resurrected Mayan goddess from destroying the world.

Request: I seem to have inintentionally stacked my requests with OT3s this year! Which is to say, I'd love a vid about Chess, Ed, and Yancey. Or about Chess and Rook's epic disaster of a relationship.

Music suggestions: Has there ever been a more "No Children" relationship than Chess and Rook's? Alternately, catch me hanging out the car window scream-singing "Babel" while crying about Chess just, like, in general.

경성학교: 사라진 소녀들 | The Silenced (2015) [SAFETY]

Five-second pitch: a teenaged tuberculosis patient in 1930s Korea is sent to a mysterious boarding school where she develops an intense friendship with another student.

Requests: GOD, this movie is gorgeous! I would love anything focused on Yeonduk and Juran's relationship, or playing up the Gothic vibes of the film.

Music suggestions: Vienna Teng, maybe? Or Mirah? Something along the lines of "My Medea" or "The Forest."
