Thank you for vidding for me! I'm pretty easy to please, vid-wise. I like shippy vids, gen vids, character studies, and ensemble pieces. I also enjoy a whole variety of different music (folk music! Glam rock! Showtunes!) although if it helps, some of my most played artists (according to Spotify) are Brandi Carlile, Simon and Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, and the Magnetic Fields. All the songs I link to here are just suggestions, so don't feel pressured to use them! The only thing I'm especially not fond of it text on screen - I have a hard time processing the visuals/audio/text at the same time. I've also never been known to turn down a crack vid.

evewithanapple: frankie hovers in midair | <lj user="evewithanapple"</lj> (stig | i'll cause such scenes)
Thank you for vidding for me!

Music-wise, I have pretty broad tastes - I like big, dramatic, spooky songs (like Florence + the Machine and Hozier) lighter, more upbeat pop stuff (like Janelle Monae, the Veronicas, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) folk music (Pete Seeger, Stan Rogers, Joan Baez), classic rock/pop (Queen, David Bowie, The Doors) or even showtunes. Content-wise, I love female characters of all stripes, femslash, and just general celebrations of the characters and their stories.

Stigmata (1999)

This movie is very bad, and I love it a lot. Anything about Frankie's character journey or her relationship with Andrew would be wonderful. Also, best of luck trying to vid around all of this movie's . . . uh . . . energetic editing choices.

Wishbone (TV)

Honestly, ANYTHING Wishbone-related would bring me joy, but my favourite parts of the show was always the book retelling, if that helps! (And if you're looking for specific suggestions, I've always thought this canon would pair well with songs from Man of La Mancha.)

Newsies (1992)

A Jack/David vid would be great, or a vid celebrating the general pro-worker spirit of the movie.

Flatliners (1990)

This movie is 110% pretty nonsense, and I am HERE FOR IT. If you want to take it in a shipping direction, I'm fond of Nelson/Dave, but if you just want to make a vid of pretty people doing wildly implausible things, that would also make me happy.

The Lions of Al-Rassan - Guy Gavriel Kay

I love the worldbuilding of this book, the Ammar/Jehane/Rodrigo relationship, and the melancholy sense of a time period and way of life coming to an end. So any variations on those themes would be great.
evewithanapple: gwyn looking justifiably proud of herself | <lj user="evewithanapple"</lj> (prin | a thief and a lady)
Stuff I grok in general:
  • loyalty kink
  • religious themes
  • found families
  • hurt/comfort
  • casefic
  • general spookiness, especially gothic-style spookiness
  • historical detail, especially history bleeding into the present
  • mutually supportive couples
  • female characters
  • huddling for warmth

My DNWs:
  • animal death/abuse
  • incest
  • character death
  • A/B/O
  • modern AUs (if canon is fantasy/historical)
  • noncon/dubcon
  • underage

If you're looking to write smut, I am 100% down with that, and I enjoy:
  • body worship
  • tender sex
  • frantic, clothes-ripping sex
  • first time
  • cunnilingus
  • strap-ons
  • orgasm delay

For the most part, my fic wants - in this batch of requests, anyway; can be best be summed up as "more of that!" I love all these canons wholeheartedly, so any continuance of the dynamics and relationships as presented to us already would make a very happy Valentine's Day for me.

Band Sinister - K. J. Charles
Amanda Frisby & Corvin, Philip Rookwood/Guy Frisby/Corvin/John Raven

So as you can probably tell from my list of requests, I spent the months of November and December blasting through everything KJ Charles has ever written and falling in love with all of it. For this book, I requested Amanda and Corvin because they seem like they'd get along like a house on fire (not in the least because they both enjoy provoking people) and I want to see the kind of shenanigans they'll get up to as de facto in-laws. I also requested Philip/Guy/Corvin/Raven, and you can take that either as an OT4 in the "four people to one bed" sense, or an understanding that they're all entangled as a big family - to what degree that's romantic/sexual is up to you.

A Charm of Magpies Series - K. J. Charles
Jonah Pastern/Ben Spenser

God, I love all the Magpie characters, but I think I picked these two because they're, oddly, the happiest/most domestic of the bunch - I expected from the book's summary that it was going to be very dark and twisted, and instead they moved to the seaside and got adopted by a widow and her children. (That's not a complaint.) So - anything about their new, domestic lives and their place in the community.

Girls Made of Snow And Glass - Melissa Bashardoust
Mina/Lynet (Girls Made of Snow And Glass)

I spent a good portion of this book on tenderhooks wondering if it would really Go There and make them girlfriends. It didn't, but I'd love it if you did!

The Raven and the Reindeer - T. Kingfisher
Gerta/Janna (The Raven and the Reindeer)

More adventures! More tumbling! More self-actualization! More cuteness! More awesome grandmas! Maybe more magical quests, even, if they're not fully burned out on that front. Or maybe they can just stay at home and cuddle.

The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal - KJ Charles
Robert Caldwell/Simon Feximal (The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal)

The cool thing about this book is that, as the friend who recommended it put it, it's basically "fanfic for a canon that doesn't exist." So feel free to fill in any of the various stories that took place over the years Simon and Robert worked together.

Outlaw King (2018)
Robert the Bruce/Elizabeth de Burgh Robert the Bruce/Elizabeth de Burgh & Marjorie

"Yes, the story of the struggle for Scottish independence is very inspiring," I said to myself as I watched this movie, "but also can we just have a romcom about this arranged marriage? Must we cut away from Elizabeth and Marjorie playing hide-and-seek to talk about politics some more? Can't we add at least ten more scenes of Robert being impressed by Elizabeth's intelligence and diplomatic skills while exchanging shy, flirtations looks with her?" More of the Bruce-de Burghs being cute, that's all I ask.

The Terror (TV 2018)
John Bridgens/Henry Peglar (The Terror (TV 2018))

IT'S FINE. THEY WALKED TO THE NEAREST HUMAN HABITATION, RECOVERED FROM THE SCURVY AND LEAD POISONING, AND SAILED HOME TO BRITAIN. NOTHING BAD HAPPENED TO ANYONE. IT'S FINE.

. . . alternately, feel free to focus on their pre-show, tender, bookish courtship. Or their in-show tender, bookish romance, before everything went totally to shit. Just give these poor souls a break! They've been through enough!

Girls Made of Snow and Glass - Melissa Bashardoust
Lynet/Mina

So I finished this book (having cried copiously while reading it) and thought "that was a really beautiful, touching mother/daughter relationship that cleverly subverts the Snow White/Evil Queen dynamic that exists in popular culture . . . but also I really want them to kiss." (No offence Nadia, but you're kind of boring.) Maybe a story about Lynet growing up and realizing that she has a crush on her sort-of stepmother? Or them as co-queens after the end of the book?

경성학교: 사라진 소녀들 | The Silenced (2015)
Hong Yeondeok | Kozue/Cha Juran | Shizuko

I was under the impression that I was one of about five people outside of Korea who'd seen this movie, so it was a pleasant surprise to see it on the tagset! Given how small the fandom is, I'd be pleased with basically anything as long as it involves this pairing. I'm especially interested in the personal/political aspect, how the whole movie is basically an allegory (a very, very unsubtle one) for colonialism and how it impacts people on an individual level, so anything relating to that - how Yeondeok and Juran feel about their lives under the Japanese occupation, how they've been impacted by it on a personal level, etc. (I know nothing about Korean history, so don't worry that I'll be a stickler for period detail!)

The Black Tapes Podcast
Amalia Chenkova/Alex Reagan

I'll be honest, I kind of started shipping this as a joke, and then it became . . . not a joke. I'd love to see an expansion of their relationship as it stands in canon- how long have they known each other? How much do they trust each other? How much do they have in common, and what are their differences? I'd especially love an expansion of Amalia's arc in s2, since it got cut off so abruptly- was she under demonic influence, or was Alex imagining things? If Alex was wrong, how do they work their way back from that? And if she was right, what does she do about it?

Alias Grace
Grace Marks/Mary Whitney

There's so much tangled up in this relationship, even if you take it all at face value - Grace calls it "the happiest time of my life," and then there's the later period where Mary is taking over Grace's body without Grace's input (or so she says . . .) Mary's rage at the upper class and Grace's own mysterious outlook on . . . basically everything that happens to her. So you could go straightforward and write fluff set during episode two, or take it in a dark dark and twisty direction and write from Mary's POV as she possesses Grace, or you could write Grace actually knowing that Mary's there and willingly participating in the murders. The sky's the limit!

The Magicians (TV)
Kady Orloff-Diaz/Julia Wicker

BEST BITCHES

I love how their relationship developed, how they have this bond that the others just don't because both of them had to get by outside of Brakebills. I loved how supportive Kady was of Julia during and after the abortion arc, how endeared Julia seems to be by Kady's propensity for punching, how they always seem to come back to each other even after a huge argument or betrayal. Take all of that and run with it as you will.

Rome (TV 2005)
Octavia of the Julii/Vorena the Elder

This is a crackship I came up with, like, eight years ago, and you know what? I stand by it! The show loves paralleling the plebian and patrician families, and so Vorena and Octavia are on parallel and yet divergent paths - both have deeply complicated relationships with their families, both grappling with what womanhood means in Roman society, both with these iron cores that let them survive everything that gets thrown their way. I'd find any intersection of their lives absolutely fascinating.

Harlots (TV)
Violet Cross/Amelia Scanwell

As I write this, the season finale is set to air in *checks watch* about four hours. And what a season it's been! Violet and Amelia have obviously had very different lives, but one thing I think they really have in common is a fervent sense of what's right. That sense doesn't always overlap, obviously, but they both have strong reactions to cruelty and hypocrisy (Violet dumping soup in Oswald's lap and volunteering to basically spy for Hunt to take down Quigley, Amelia agreeing to lure Cunliffe and worrying over having to lie by marrying Hunt) that unites them. So really anything that relates to their perspectives on the lives they live and what they hope for the future would be great.

The Girl from the Well - Rin Chupeco
Okiku (The Girl From The Well)

I love J-horror and girl ghosts, so this book was basically tailor-made for me! I'd love to read about Okuki's life/afterlife in general, her activities as a vengeance ghost, her slowly regaining her humanity, and/or her relationship with Tark. OR: you could write about other ghosts in the same universe, what they're getting up to and whether they and Okiku ever cross paths.

That Inevitable Victorian Thing - E.K. Johnston
Victoria-Margaret (That Inevitable Victorian Thing) Helena Marcus August Callahan

This book! This book was such a warm, fuzzy hug at a time when I really needed that. I'd really like to see fic that looks at Margaret, Helena, and August's lives after the book ends, and how they handle being royalty and ruling the empire. Or, alternately, you could base a fic on what their domestic lives look like behind the scenes. Or you could do BOTH.

Girls Made of Snow And Glass - Melissa Bashardoust
Mina (Girls Made of Snow and Glass) Lynet (Girls Made of Snow and Glass)

I, uh . . . ship this a lot. That said, if you're not comfortable with writing Lynet/Mina romantically, I'd also be down for gen fic about them as co-rulers, how they work together on resolving conflicts, and what the kingdom looks like under their rule.

Six of Crows Series - Leigh Bardugo
Nina Zenik, Matthias Helvar

I love Nina/Matthias, so of course, the ending of Crooked Kingdom was . . . controversial in my household. I'd be super pleased with a canon divergence AU where that whole bit of business just never happens and they go off to broker peace together. Or, if you'd prefer, something set during the books while their relationship is developing (especially during CK, when they're dealing with the panem fallout.)

I'm totally on board with PWP, and fine with any sex stuff up to mild bondage; I'm not really into hardcore BDSM or kink. Also, if the canon requested involves one of my DNWs, it's totally fine if that pops up in the story, but I'd prefer that new stuff not be introduced. (i.e. there's obviously sexual violence baked into Alias Grace as a narrative, but please don't introduce NEW sexual violence.)

Alias Grace (TV)
Grace Marks, Mary Whitney

So I actually first engaged with this canon when I read the book ten years ago, and the ending made me so mad ("what do you MEAN we don't get any clarification of what really happened??") that I nearly threw the book across the room. However, with time and reflection, I think I appreciate the ambiguity a lot more, especially because it means I can believe that the actual ending is: MURDEROUS REVOLUTIONARY GHOST GIRLFRIENDS.

Or if that's not your bag, consider:

• if Mary really is haunting Grace and Grace isn't aware, what's her perspective of the whole thing? How does Mary feel about that, given that she's basically using (and let's be honest, raping) Grace for her own ends?
• if Mary's haunting Grace and Grace does know what's going on, what's her perspective? How much of a willing participant is she in the murders? What kind of interactions does she have with Mary as a ghost in her head?
• what about what went on between Mary and Grace back when they were both alive? What was their friendship like? What did they think of each other?

Femslash VERY much encouraged for this pairing. (For all the pairings, let's be real.)

The Exorcist (TV)
Verity Kim, Kat Rance

One of the persistent themes in this show that was the intersection between faith and queerness - we had Marcus (fervent believer) and then Kat (who seemed kind of meh about the whole thing) and Verity (who was very much anti-religion, understandably so.) I'd love to see either of these characters' perspectives of what went on in their respective families during the exorcisms - or what would happen if they met and compared notes! (Again, femslash encouraged. Can I just issue a blanket "femslash encouraged" note and call it done?)

Rock 'n' Roll High School

Riff Randall, Kate Rambeau

This movie is fucking WEIRD, and I love it. As a result, you can basically take any tone you want with fic - you could even write darkfic, if you want! (I mean, I'd prefer you didn't, but theoretically you COULD.) Basically I'd just really love Riff/Kate fic, and you can be as realistic (friends-to-lovers in high school/college) or surreal (teen anarchists destroy their school with the power of rock music!) as you want.

The Magicians (TV)

That said, if you'd rather stick with a platonic relationship for the fic, that's fine as well - I just want to read about them together.

Lynes and Mathey Series - Amy Griswold & Melissa Scott
Relationship: Julian Lynes/Ned Mathey

As someone who grew up on urban fantasy and Sherlock Holmes and is really into the history of gay culture in the Victorian era, these books were basically calibrated to tickle my id, and I'd honestly be happy with any expansion on Ned and Julian's canon relationship. Casefic, smut, hurt/comfort, schmoop - it's all good.

Lost Boys (Movies)
Relationship: Michael Emerson/David (Lost Boys)/Star (Lost Boys) Relationship: Michael Emerson/David (Lost Boys)

Note: as indicated, I'm down with either Michael/David or Michael/David/Star, but one hard preference I have is that Star not get bashed or killed off or otherwise maligned. I'm really fond of her! It's not the poor girl's fault that she landed in the middle of a homoerotic vampire battle.

Anyway, I came relatively late to this movie, but I love how earnestly over-the-top and fun it is - this is a movie that has no shame about inserting an oiled-up, shirtless saxophone player for no reason, or enough crossfades to make any 80s music video director blush, or characters yelling "It's too late! My blood is in you!" at each other. So feel free to lean into that. Alternately, you could get more serious/introspective with it and look at what life is really like as a Lost Boy (or Lost Boy half-vampire adjacent) when they're not posing and preening and jumping off railway bridges to show how cool they are. OR you could write about the weird, messy, tangled dynamic that is these three, and how that works beyond the initial burst of violence and sex and jealousy. The sky's the limit!

(also, an all-girl AU of this movie is something I will ALWAYS be into.)

Girls Made of Snow And Glass - Melissa Bashardoust
Relationship: Lynet (Girls Made of Snow and Glass)/Mina (Girls Made of Snow and Glass)

Rock 'n' Roll High School
Relationship: Riff Randell/Kate Rambeau

Did I throw this one in just to see if anyone else had obscure enough tastes to take me up on it? Yes, yes I did. But honestly, I do really ship these two - they seem so close (in an emotional and personal space sense) and if you can figure out a way to write about this weird, weird canon, more power to you. Baby rock and roll lesbians!

The Exorcist (TV)
Relationship: Verity Kim & Harper Graham

If I had one complaint about season two of this show, it's that it should have been twenty episodes longer just so that we could spend more time with the Kim family. I loved what we saw of Harper and Verity's dynamic - how Verity was initially against having another sibling but immediately moved into big sister mode once Harper arrived, and how Harper started to emerge from her shell once she was at the Kims. You could write a story about their time together while Andy was still alive (or an AU where he never died! It's fine, they got rid of the demon and he and Rose are living happily together with their brood of children and nothing bad ever happened again) or about what happens after, how they deal with this new upheaval in their lives.

The Magicians (TV)
Fen, Eliot Waugh, Margo Hanson, Kady Orloff-Diaz, Julia Wicker

First, I will be totally honest and say that I haven't finished season three yet - I have three episodes left. BUT I will undoubtedly have finished by the time the collection goes live, so don't worry about spoilers. If anything in the letter makes you squint and go "uh?" just know that it's because I haven't consumed all of canon yet.

For Fen, Eliot, and Margo: I'd really be interested in a story about what day-to-day life in the palace looks like when they're not dealing with a fairy coup, or the entire castle being turned into rats, or an invading country demanding to marry one of Fillory's rulers. I'm especially interested in Fen - when she was introduced, I thought she'd just be a side presence who didn't have much to do, so you can imagine my delight when she got to be a full-fledged character with her own storylines! I'd be totally into a fic about Just Another Day In Fillory and the various minor problems they have to deal with, or with how the three of them work as a unit. Not exactly a family/romantic unit (unless you're into that, which, hey, I'm certainly not objecting) but three people who have to live and work together in the best interests of their country.

For Kady and Julia: hooooooly CRAP do I ship this. That said, if you'd rather stick with a platonic relationship for the fic, that's fine as well - I just want to read about them together.
evewithanapple: foxy robin hood with an arrow in his cap | <lj user="evewithanapple"</lj> (dis | we just borrow a bit)
I had a blast thinking of nominations for the theme this year, and I know for a fact that I nominated way more fandoms than I ended up requesting. Which is to say, I love this whole theme, and am very excited to see whatever you end up making!

Music preferences: honestly, I listen to everything from showtunes to R&B to 1950s pop music. (My most recently added artists on iTunes are Imagine Dragons, the Boomtown Rats, The Greatest Showman, and Joan Baez, so that should give you an idea.) My only preference is for music with lyrics, but that's not a hard and fast rule.

The Girl from the Well - Rin Chupeco

Being that I love horror movies, and Ringu specifically, this book was practically made for me. Obviously it pulls far more from traditional Japanese mythology than it does modern horror, but it's also impossible to read it without thinking of those famous movie visuals. I love the whole concept of a onryō starting to re-enter the human world, but I also love Okiku as an avenger, so anything about her character would be great!

Stigmata (1999)

Ah, my favourite hot mess of a movie. I love the premise (an atheist suddenly becoming a prophet figure/vessel) and I love the characters, I'm just . . . not crazy about the ultimate direction the movie took it in. So if you wanted to focus on Frankie as a messianic character, or Frankie/Andrew, I'd love that.

Perfect Creature (2006)

I love the worldbuilding of this movie, the general steampunk-y vibe that also has a heavy religious aspect. Really anything from this movie would make me happy - a focus on the Brotherhood, a focus on Lilly, a focus on Silus/Lilly, et cetera.

Robin Hood (1973)

I loved this movie as a child, and honestly still do now. A vid capturing the nostalgic fun of it, or one that hinges on the generosity/socialist aspects would be wonderful.

Lost Boys (1987)

I was actually just introduced to this movie a few weeks ago (I know, I know, I'm years behind) and loved the campy silliness of it all. I'd especially like a vid focusing on the vampires, or on David/Michael (or David/Michael/Star.) Don't be afraid to get goofy with the music choice! I personally think this is a movie that would pair well with classic Oingo Boingo.

The Hexslinger Series - Gemma Files

I love, love, love, love these books - I especially love the characters (my favourite is Chess, but I also love Ed and Yancey and Songbird and Yiska, and . . . basically everyone who ends up on on Team Hex City. I even love Rook, even though he's terrible) so I'd be super pleased with a character-based vid. (Also, if you need help finding visual sources, I know for a fact that the author was inspired in part by the 2007 version of 3:10 to Yuma; Ben Foster really does look like Chess.)

The Exorcist (TV)

I love 1) exorcism stories, 2) homoerotic priests, 3) women/LGBT people/people of colour taking centre stage in horror narratives, so this whole show is basically my catnip. I'd really like a vid about Marcus and Tomas's relationship, Marcus in general, or the Kim family and the stuff they endure together. (My personal favourite is Verity, especially her relationship with Harper, but I also adore Shelby.)

The Exorcist (TV)

Kat Rance/Verity (The Exorcist) Verity & Harper Graham (The Exorcist (TV)) Marcus Keane/Tomas Ortega (The Exorcist (TV))

I find Kat/Verity really exciting conceptually, because they're very different characters, but have had similar experiences with their families being impacted by demons. Also, the show delved into Verity's relationship with faith re: her sexuality (bad) but didn't really touch on Kat's, though she was raised Catholic. I'd like anything looking at their perspectives.

For Verity and Harper, I love their canon dynamic - Verity was so reluctant to take on another sibling at first, but she really stepped up once Harper arrived, and you can see by the season finale how close they'd grown in a matter of days. I'd like anything about their sibling relationship, and would also be totally cool with any of the other Kim kids putting in appearances.

And Marcus/Tomas - gosh, what is there to say? I love reading about priests in love, and the way Marcus and Tomas' dynamic plays out - how Marcus is driven to keep Tomas safe, while Tomas is determined to run headfirst into ANY dangerous situation he comes across. They also both feel driven to serve God, but have a lot of internal conflict about what that means and what they're "supposed" to do. They're also great candidated for hurt/comfort fic, since they both keep getting their asses kicked, as well as stories where demons try (and fail?) to get in between them.

The Raven and the Reindeer - T. Kingfisher
Gerta/Janna

This book is just a shot of glitter straight to the arm, and I'd love anything about these two - mutual pining while they're travelling together, domestic fic after they've settled down, further magical adventures with Mousebones, traveling to see the coast, etc.

Lynes and Mathey Series - Amy Griswold & Melissa Scott
Julian Lynes/Ned Mathey

I grew up on classic Sherlock Holmes, so obviously these books are catnip to me. These two are also great candidates for casefic, loyalty kink, and hurt/comfort (oh no, one of us got hit with a nasty spell and needs to be taken care of!) I'm also really fascinated by Victorian gay culture, so if you share that particular special interest, I would love to see it incorporated into the setting of the books.

Harlots (TV)
Violet Cross/Amelia Scanwell

These girls! They come from such divergent backgrounds, but they also managed to find each other and fall in love. Their relationship is very new in canon, so I'd love to read about how it develops - how do they learn to organize their lives around each other? What does domesticity look like for them? How do they fit in to each other's worlds? How do they each deal with Violet's profession and Amelia's faith? (Not to mention Amelia's mother.) Where do they see themselves ten years from now?

I'd really like a vid about Marcus and Tomas's relationship, Marcus in general, Bennett and his trials and tribulations, or the Rance women and their shared experiences with the demon.

Hamlet (2009)

Ah, the production of Hamlet that actually got me into Hamlet! I'm always on board with Shakespeare crack, so anything funny would be great, or you could do a more serious thing dealing with Hamlet and his relationships with Horatio and Ophelia.

The Penumbra Podcast

This podcast, for all that it is . . . a podcast, is all about the aesthetic. Gay space noir! So that's my prompt, basically: gay space noir. (Also, Peter is my favourite; do with this information what you will.)

The Living and the Dead (TV)

I love this kind of rural/folk horror, so anything that deals with the spookiness of the setting would be awesome. Or a vid about Charlotte (Charlotte/Nathan, if you wish!) because I LOVE HER.

Whitechapel (TV)

I have a lot of feelings about historicity and the way we relate to the Jack the Ripper story (and historical crimes in general) so anything dealing with th continuity of these crimes would be great. OR, you could make a vid about Chandler, who is one of the few authentic OCD characters I've ever seen on TV and who I love to bits. OR you could lean into the cracky end of the demonic stuff. (Little old lady Lucifer!) OR you could play the demonic stuff completely straight.

Coriolanus (2014)

Once again, I'm on board with anything cracky. I'm also on board with anything Coriolanus/Aufidius, or that deals with the play and its relationship with violence and militarism in general.

General likes: fluff, hurt/comfort (emphasis on the comfort), smut, women loving and supporting each other, domesticity, established relationships, emotional vulnerability, characters learning to trust/open up, partnership

General DNWs: major character death, noncon/dubcon, A/B/O, modern AUs (if it's a fantasy/historical fiction fandom), animal death, incest, angst, darkfic

Harlots (TV)
Violet Cross/Amelia Scanwell

So we have the foundations of the relationship in-show (and we're getting a second season to see it progress, yay!) but as far as fanfic goes, the possibilties are still wide open. Violet and Amelia spend a day at the market? Violet and Amelia talk about God? Violet and Amelia spend a lazy afternoon in bed together? Anything goes!

The Black Tapes Podcast
Alex Reagan/Amelia Chenkova

I'll be honest, I kind of started shipping this as a joke, and then it became . . . not a joke. I'd love to see an expansion of their relationship as it stands in canon- how long have they known each other? How much do they trust each other? How much do they have in common, and what are their differences? I'd especially love an expansion of Amalia's arc in s2, since it got cut off so abruptly- was she under demonic influence, or was Alex imagining things? If Alex was wrong, how do they work their way back from that? And if she was right, what does she do about it?

The Raven and the Reindeer - T. Kingfisher

Gerta/Janna

This book is just so DELIGHTFUL, and I'd be delighted with just about anything regarding these two. Mutual pining during the journey? The two of them settling down together after the end of the book? Their trip to the coast? Anything!

Six of Crows Series - Leigh Bardugo
Inej Ghafa/Nina Zenik

This is another one where I don't have any real specific prompts, I'd just like to read more about them. We know from canon that they're good friends and they trust each other, but they don't have a ton of one-on-one scenes. So- how did they get to know each other? Get to the level of trust we see in SoC/CK? What have they confided in each other? How far would they go for each other?

Harlots (TV)
Amelia Scanwell, Violet Cross

This is a very new relationship, and obviously they have a lot of stuff to work through, especially Amelia- anything to do with them dealing with the various differences in their lives, the ways they learn to relate to each other, and the progression of Amelia's feelings about Violet (and her sexuality in general) would make me very happy.

Strange Empire
Rebecca Blithely, Kat Loving, Group: Kat Loving & Isabelle Slotter & Rebecca Blithely

I love Kat and Rebecca's relationship in canon- these two people who don't quite fit, but bring out the best in each other and just click almost immediately. So anything about them being mutually supportive, learning about each other, defending each other from people who don't get it, etc. I also really love the uneasy alliance between the three women, who recognize that they need each other but don't exactly trust each other. So anything along those lines would be great.

The Raven and the Reindeer - T. Kingfisher
Group: Gerta & Janna (The Raven and the Reindeer) Janna (The Raven and the Reindeer) Gerta (The Raven and the Reindeer)

This is such a sweet little story and a great relationship - I'd love to see anything about their lives after the book, whether they go off together to see the sea or settle down in Gerta's grandmother's house and make a life there. Or something in-between! Who knows.

The Silenced (2015)
Yeon-duk (The Silenced) Joo-ran (The Silenced)

This movie combines so many of my favourite storytelling elements- gothic boarding school! Girl superheroes! Extremely homoerotic relationships between girls!- so any of those aspects would be a good thing to focus on. I'm also always up for fix-it fic where Yeok-duk and Joo-ran both survive and go on to fuck shit up for the Japanese colonists, or just run around in the woods together eating berries and pushing each other into lakes.
evewithanapple: an upside-down cross on a test pattern | timepunching @ lj (tapes | save a little light)
So I put up a post intending to make a detailed letter and realized that I don't really have detailed requests- I'm very broad in my vidding tastes, so really anything you choose to do for these fandoms would be fine and good. If you'd like more specifics, I'm always up for shippy vids, vids that focus on the female characters and their journeys/arcs, spooky stuff, mashups (like editing a horror movie into a romcom) and general plot/character vids. Honestly, I'll be thrilled to get any vids for any of my listed fandoms- I'm just really excited to be participating, and I'm sure I'll love whatever you come up with!
evewithanapple: a woman of genius | <lj user="evewithanapple"</lj> (king | like a heel to the head)
Thank you for writing for me!

As far as likes and dislikes are concerned, I'm relatively easy to please- I'm not a fan of darkfic or unhappy endings, and I love hurt/comfort, fluff, smut, and established/affectionate relationships. I read het, slash, and femslash (although given my requests this year, slash is kind of removed from the equation since there's only two guys here) and will happily read any rating from G to R. My only hard DNWs are animal harm, incest, sexual assault, and major character death.

Fandoms

The Handmaiden

Sook-hee, Lady Hideko

Wow, this movie was a wild ride! I'd been vaguely familiar with the plot of Fingersmith, but even knowing the twists ahead of time, I don't think I was quite prepared for this movie. (If nothing else, it got me to sit and pay rapt attention for two and a half hours, which is no mean feat.) I loved how much the movie's plot hinged on the two women coming to understand and trust each other (I actually feel that Park Chan-Wook improved on the plot by removing some of the betrayal twists, because it strengthened the central relationship.) I love that Sook-hee, for all that she's a career criminal, is actually a very emotion-driven person with a strong moral compass. I love that Hideko was raised in this hideous environment, but still finds the strength to trick her way out. For fic, anything about their lives post-movie would be great. Or their lives during the movie, and what they're thinking and feeling while falling for each other. (Given the tone of the film, PWP would be entirely appropriate here! Especially PWP with feelings.)

The Black Tapes Podcast
Alex Reagan, Richard Strand, Amalia Chenkova

As a childhood X-Phile, this podcast was basically made for me. I have some frustrations with it (we have so much backstory and interiority for characters like Nic and Strand and so little for Alex or Amalia or Coralee) but hey, that's what fic is for. Casefic would be AMAZING here, since the monster-of-the-week episodes were always my favourites. I ship both Alex/Strand and Alex/Amalia, so fic in either direction would be great. I'd especially like fic that looks at how Alex is dealing with all the crazy shit that's going on in her life since she started the podcast. Or the three of them could go on an OT3 roadtrip! (Note: I haven't listened to TANIS, so any references to that will go right over my head.)

The Conjuring (movies)
Ed Warren, Lorraine Warren

Speaking of monster-of-the-week! I know the IRL Warrens were kind of terrible people (or at the very least, deeply deluded about what they did for a living) but the fictional Warrens are so incredibly charming and in love. I adore how supportive they are of each other, how you can tell they've been a couple forever and have little in-jokes and stories but still have a sense of fun about their relationship. Anything about them would be great- slice-of-life stuff, casefic (either pulled from the existing Warren casefiles, or just made up out of whole cloth) backstory showing how they met, etc.
evewithanapple: hideko and sook-hee circle each other | <lj user="evewithanapple"</lj> (hand | raise me to your lips)
Likes: strong female relationships (platonic or romantic), bright-eyed revolutionaries, girls coming into their own, found families, domesticity, people with strong convictions, nerdy historical/literary references, and babies.

Dislikes:
sexual violence, animal/pet death, abusive relationships, A/B/O

Historical RPF

Juana Ines de la Cruz/Original Female Character Charity Bryant/Sylvia Drake

So I listed "original female character" for Juana because there's really not much information about her female friends in the historical record- we know she was supported by the wife of the Viceroy of New Spain and that she wrote her romantic poetry (romantic enough to pop a few monocles, anyway) but we don't have any of their letters, or even the Vicerine's name. So you can really take this prompt in any direction you want- Juana was obviously a fiercely intelligent, passionate person, so how would that translate to her relationship with another woman? What common ground would they find? How would they inspire each other?

For Charity and Sylvia, all I really want is curtainfic- one of the sweetest things about their story is how ordinary and domestic their life together was, so anything that involves them going about their day, interacting with each other/their apprentices/their wide surrogate family (like any of the various Charities or Sylvias running around Weybridge (maybe the first time they learned that someone had named their daughter after them?) Just anything about their lives together and how they supported each other through 40+ years of marriage.

Gravel To Tempo - Hayley Kiyoko (Music video)
Hayley (Gravel to Tempo)/Blake (Gravel to Tempo)

The great thing about Hayley's music videos is how much information you can glean from just the facial expressions and physical movement, and how much is still left to interpretation. That said, this expression:

-only has one interpretation for me; she's thirsty! So anything about the progression of their relationship, what Blake thinks of Hayley, what Hayley thinks of Blake (is she crushing specifically on her? Or does she just envy the whole in-crowd and their feelings for each other develop after the fact?) You could also take it to a completely different genre if you wanted- that dance with the burning pictures, was that symbolic or actual witchcraft?

The Black Tapes Podcast
Amalia Chenkova/Alex Reagan

I love how smart and driven both women are in pursuit of answers, even when it brings them into danger (don't visit haunted monasteries/go into the murder house!) and following that line of thinking, I feel like a relationship between them could be fascinatingly explosive. Do either of them have an "off" switch? Is there a point at which one will draw a line in the sand, either for the sake of journalistic ethics or personal safety? And if one was actually put into harm's way, how would the other handle it?

Strange Empire (TV)
Rebecca Blithely/Kat Loving Rebecca Blithely/Kat Loving/Isabelle Slotter

So I've shipped Kat/Rebecca more or less from the word "go" when they had that first conversation about Rebecca's history and education and Kat gave her that gun. I love how much they implicitly trust and respect each other, how they seem to have an innate understanding of how the wider world treats them unfairly (which is, after all, kind of a thesis statement for the whole show) and just how well they work together in general. Even when they spend a few episodes apart, they still fall into that pattern of silent communication when shit needs to get done.

. . . and then Isabelle entered the picture! So obviously Isabelle/Kat offers a wealth of possibilities, some more comedic than others (Isabelle Slotter-Loving: Awkward Stepmom?) but I'd feel bad leaving Rebecca out of the picture, and they did all work together in the finale. I think in some ways, all three compliment each other; Isabelle is ruthlessly pragmatic but also superstitious, Rebecca is booksmart and hard-headed when it comes to the supernatural but also very emotional, and Kat is the one who best understands how to navigate between feelings and facts. So I'd like to see what that dynamic looks like in practice- how do the three of them survive together? How do they manage Janestown, and what does their family dynamic look like?
evewithanapple: a young phil ochs with his guitar | <lj user="evewithanapple"</lj> (music | i'm going to say it now)
[So right after I signed up/posted a placeholder letter, I got swamped with a massive wave of personal/family stuff that kept me from getting any fandom-related things done, including this post, so . . . uh, whoops. If you're reading this and you've been assigned to me, go crazy! Have fun! I don't have any special preferences, so I don't care what direction you take the plot in.]

Black Beauty

The Kindness of Men (Ginger, G) I haven't read Black Beauty in years, and would never have thought to go looking for fic for it, but I'm glad I clicked on this one. It's an alternate ending for Ginger, and warms my rescue-pet-owning heart.

Brothers Sinister Series

The Christmas Box (Genevieve/Amanda, E) MY PRESENT. In which Genevieve and Amanda explore the (sexy) joys of modernity.

Carmilla

someday we won't remember this (Lafontaine/Perry, T) Lafontaine and JP get their fake date on to make Perry jealous. It's exactly as romcom as it sounds.

Silas University Student Handbook, Bestiary, and Survival Guide (Abridged) (Laura/Carmilla, G) Unsurprisingly, there are a few unusual caveats in the Silas student handbook. Cute and funny.

Elizabethan and Jacobean Theatre & Literature RPF

Sad Stories of the Death of Kings (Shakespeare and Marlowe, G) Because it's not Yuletide without Shakespeare and Marlowe: the two playwrights experiment with genre. I feel like somewhere in the afterlife, Derek Jarman is tenting his fingers delightedly at this fic.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Bullets Are A Nuisance (Perry/Harry, T) The dialogue- which makes up most of the fic- is pitch-perfectly suited to canon, and I love the hypochondriac Harry/long-suffering Perry dynamic here.

(re)scheduling conflict resolution (Perry/Harry, Harry/Harmony, T) Once again, the dialogue is perfect, and the dynamic of Perry and Harmony trading off Harry while Harry splutters is deeply hilarious.

Scarborough Fair

gather it all in a bunch of heather (OFC/OFC) Talking about the details of this one would spoil it, but it's beautiful and bittersweet.

True Detective

Little Cactus (Rust Cohle, Audrey Hart, T) OW OW OW. The Rust/Audrey dynamic is severely underexplored in canon, and this fic fills in the gap beautifully while staying true to both characters and following up on the themes of the show.
